My opinion:
This chapter clearly presents the lives of Ruby and Ada. Ada and Ruby were so generous and kind to everyone because they allowed a group of humans on the cart to sleep at their barn and gave them anything that could help them to travel easily. Not only were they generous, but they were also sympathetic people. They felt sympathy for the prisoner who was attacked by the Home Guard, and they brought the speech of the prisoner to think and decide because they helped everyone that they had not met before without hesitation. That is one reason why we think they sympathize with everyone. It can teach us about sympathy and generosity to everyone. When we sympathize and are generous with them, they will believe in us and take an ethical view of us too. Ruby was a clever and diligent woman because she had knowledge of the world naturally, and she always used this knowledge to help herself and others survive bad situations. She took a time to attempt to know what she did not have to know. It tells us that Ruby is a woman, but she has a strong heart for living as a man and uses her knowledge to help people. It is the personality of the general women in the American Civil War. Next, we also learned about the domination of a person. The Home Guards had the power to make someone’s life free or die by themselves. It was the worst thing in our lives because we should have the authority to live and do anything in the world by ourselves without someone's regulation. Finally, this story teaches us about the inhumane of humans. The Home Guards were so cruel and brutal that they attacked and arrested prisoners and their families, who escaped without regret, so they are very immoral people. It can teach us that we should not attack others and must have the shame of sins all the time to do something.
